The highly anticipated indoor golf league backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy has hit an early roadblock. The roof of the TGL SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, collapsed after an apparent power outage Tuesday night. While no injuries were reported, the air-supported dome sustained significant damage, putting the league’s scheduled Jan. 9 start date in question.

The SoFi Center, located on the Palm Beach State College campus, is a 250,000-square-foot facility designed to host the new league’s games. The 2,000-seat venue features a 64-by-46-foot tee simulation screen and a 97-by-50-yard playing surface where golfers can chip and putt on real grass and bunkers.

The league tournament will air Tuesday night on ESPN and ESPN2 channels and will feature six teams competing in a “three-man” alternate stroke play tournament, singles tournament and closest-to-the-pin contest. Five of the six teams have been sold to ownership groups, and several prominent golfers, including Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler and Max Homer, have committed to join McIlroy and Woods’ alliance.

The extent of the damage to the SoFi Center and its potential impact on the league’s schedule remains unclear. League officials are currently assessing the situation and will keep you updated.
