Government of India’s efforts to recover lost artifacts

Since independence, the Government of India has recovered about 350 artifacts from all parts of the world, of which 260 have come from countries such as France, Germany, Singapore, Australia and Canada. In addition, India has recovered about 190 artifacts from the United States of America.

India’s Minister of Culture Prahlad Singh Patel said that the Government of India is working to recover more lost artifacts, including more than 10,000 Indian manuscripts from the National Library in London and about 700 Orasthan Central Asian artifacts from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Patel said the Government of India is working with concerned countries and museums to retrieve these artifacts. He said the Government of India is committed to preserving India’s cultural heritage and will continue its efforts to recover all the lost artifacts.
