Brazilian TV giant Globo has acquired Spinners, an original series produced by Canal+ and Showmax for its Latin American audience. The deal was brokered by distributor StudioCanal.

Spinners is a co-production between African streaming service Showmax and Canal+ centred around the popular and dangerous South African motorsport sport of “spinning”. The eight-episode series premiered in November on Showmax in sub-Saharan Africa and Canal+ in Africa, and will soon air on Canal+ in France.

The series tells the story of a 17-year-old rider who works for a local gang and struggles to provide for his younger brother. As he becomes increasingly frustrated with this life and seeks a way out, he finds himself drawn to the world of spinning.
