Apple releases iOS 17.2 Beta 2 with support for spatial video recording on iPhone 15 Pro models

Apple has released the second beta of iOS 17.2 to developers, bringing a new feature to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max: spatial video recording.

Spatial video is a new video format that can be viewed in 3D on the upcoming Apple Vision Pro headphones. To enable spatial video recording on iPhone 15 Pro, go to Settings > Camera > Formats and turn on Apple Vision Pro Spatial Video.

Apple recommends stabilizing iPhone in landscape orientation while recording space video for best results. Space video is recorded in 1080p at 30 frames per second, and a one-minute video takes up 130MB of storage space.

Space video shot on iPhone 15 Pro can be viewed on iPhone, but will appear as regular video. To watch 3D space videos on Vision Pro headphones, simply tap the “Space” tab on the video.

Journal app: a new app for recording daily activities and thoughts.
Other bug fixes and performance improvements.
To download and install iOS 17.2 Beta, you must be a registered developer with an Apple ID. To sign up for the Apple Developer Program, visit the Apple Developer website.

Availability

iOS 17.2 is expected to be released to the public in early 2024.
